We're looking to appoint a Data Warehouse Analyst to join our growing Data Warehouse Team. Following investment into our Digital function, we are on a mission to transform complex healthcare data into trusted, accessible information that helps clinicians, managers and decision-makers improve services for our patients. This is an opportunity to work with large-scale datasets, modern data technologies and a highly collaborative and friendly team, delivering solutions that make a genuine difference across the organisation.

We offer a range of training and education opportunities as well as on-the-job training when learning new skills or systems.

Hybrid working: our staff work a mix of from our office at Wardsend Road North and from home. Occasional travel to clinical sites will be required. Everyone is also welcome to work in the office full time.

Main duties of the job

  • Identify data quality issues through analysis of data sets and produce reports to address concerns.
  • Liaise with colleagues concerning issues of data quality and effect on analysis.
  • Submit national datasets to various data landing platforms and portals (e.g., MHSDS, CSDS, NHS Benchmarking) in advance of the deadlines.
  • Build, maintain and validate a suite of system 'front-end' reports to facilitate operational management of services.
  • Interpret reporting requirements from consumers of information and accurately produce reports to meet demand in the most efficient way and in alignment with supporting guidelines.

Person Specification

Knowledge and skills

Essential
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server database technologies - SQL Server 2012 and above
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to understand complex data relationships
  • Able to demonstrate excellent written, documentation and oral communication skills and abilities
  • Working knowledge of NHS data and information flows
  • Knowledge of clinical systems and database structures
Desirable
  • Experience working with mental health NHS mandatory datasets (e.g. MHSDS)
  • Experience using source control tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub)

Training and qualifications

Essential
  • Degree in computer related subject or equivalent professional qualification or experience
Desirable
  • Certificate in database administration / data modelling

Experience

Essential
  • Appropriate demonstrable experience in relational database management systems (RDBMS)
  • Substantial experience in an analysis role
  • Knowledge of NHS data standards and definitions
Desirable
  • Experience of data migration and data quality reporting
  • DW design methodologies
  • Experience of submitting timely, statutory and mandatory returns
