Job summary
This is an exciting and high-impact opportunity to play a key role in shaping how continual service improvement is delivered across Nottinghamshire Health Informatics Service (NHIS) and our wider health and care partners. As Continual Service Improvement Lead, you will lead and support a portfolio of improvement initiatives that help deliver high-quality, efficient, consistent and user-focused digital services at scale.
Working as part of the service improvement function, you will partner with operational, technical, clinical and digital colleagues to review services end-to-end, identify opportunities for improvement, redesign processes and support the successful implementation of sustainable change.
NHIS is a key enabler of digital transformation across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and the wider Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Cluster. Person Specification
Knowledge Requirements
- Specialist knowledge of continual service improvement, service redesign and improvement methodologies.
- Detailed knowledge of lean 6 Sigma methodology and evidence of working with the DMAIC improvement methodology.
- Detailed knowledge of process mapping, root cause analysis, benefits realisation, service management, performance reporting and the creation of Service Improvement Plans.
- Extensive knowledge of statistical process control tools, understand how to collect relevant information, plot data points and analyse the outputs to draw conclusions.
- Ability to analyse complex information and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
- Ability to communicate complex or sensitive information clearly and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of information governance, confidentiality and data protection requirements.
- o Strong facilitation, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of NHS digital, IM&T or service management environments.
Experience
- Significant experience of leading or delivering service improvement, transformation or redesign work in a complex environment.
- Evidence of working with the DMAIC improvement methodology and implementing change programmes
- Experience of creating process maps, Value Stream Maps and identifying waste within processes
- Ability to use Statistical Process Control tools to understand process capability and stability
- Experience of analysing service data and stakeholder feedback to identify and implement improvements.
- Experience of developing improvement plans, project documentation, reports and business cases.
- Experience of facilitating workshops, meetings or review sessions with a range of stakeholders.
- Experience of managing risks, issues and dependencies within improvement activity
- Experience of coaching or supporting others in improvement methods and change delivery.
- NHS or public sector experience.
- Experience of working in IM&T, digital, informatics or service management functions.
- Experience of using Power BI, ITSM systems or similar tools to support reporting and improvement.
Contractual Requirements
- Ability to work flexibly in line with service needs.
- Ability to travel to NHIS and customer sites as required.
Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent knowledge and experience of working at a senior level in Lean 6 Sigma methodology
- Recognised improvement qualification such as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Practitioner level, or equivalent evidence of specialist improvement training.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
- ITIL or equivalent service management qualification.
