Renewables HV Cable Engineering Degree Apprentice
As a Renewables HV Cable Engineering Level 6 Degree Apprentice you will be based out of our Newcastle Office. You will specialise in the area of High Voltage Cables.
Role
Every project needs to be designed and optimised to ensure it delivers on value, efficiency and footprint, a design engineer knows what needs to be achieved, how it will be achieved, how long it will take and how much it will cost and works with the project operations team to achieve the required outcomes. You will develop these skills through a combination of classroom work and on the job activities at Siemens Energy.
Although not an exhaustive list, below are some of the tasks and responsibilities that you’ll take on as a HV Cables Engineering Apprentice:
- Gain understanding of Autodesk products such as AutoCAD and Revit to aid in the production of cable design packages.
Assisting with the preparation of drawings and technical documents - Utilise editing software such as Adobe Acrobat / PDF X-Change for formatting documents.
- Liaise and engage with Colleagues and Clients to build professional relationships.
- Site visits as and when required for further technical development
- Understand of Information Management Systems and maintenance of Master Document Registers and other Document
- Control requirements throughout project lifecycle.
- Familiar with specifications within HV cabling such as IEC, BS, NGET, ENATS, Cigre.
Training
- Alongside your full time work, you will be working towards a L6 BEng Product Design and Development Engineer at Newcastle University.
- Develop key technology and toolset skills in design, visualisation and construction techniques.
- Onward career development through L7 specialist MEng or MSc course and further professional qualifications such as IEng or CEng.
