Senior Engineering Manager – Data Platform

Perm (6-month Fixed-Term Contract)

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Role Location: London (Hybrid)

What you will do:

• Lead and mentor 1–2 engineering squads focused on building and maintaining core data platform components including experimentation frameworks, event pipelines, batch and streaming data processing, observability, and governance.
• Collaborate with Product, Data, and Engineering stakeholders to align platform capabilities with business strategy.
• Define and execute the technical roadmap for the modern data platform, supporting analytics and machine learning use cases.
• Promote engineering best practices with a focus on maintainability, scalability, privacy, and performance.
• Champion data governance and observability practices, integrating privacy-by-design principles.
• Play an active role in hiring and developing top engineering talent.

What you will bring:

• Proven experience managing large-scale data infrastructure or platform teams, ideally in a consumer tech or marketplace environment.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and modern data tools (e.g., Apache Spark, Kafka, DBT, Databricks).
• Experience with both batch and real-time data processing architectures.
• Strong programming background in Python, Scala, or Java.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Demonstrated experience working with privacy-sensitive data and enforcing governance standards.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to scale high-performing teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
