Contract Opportunity: Migration Project Manager

Location: Edinburgh, UK (Remote-first with occasional travel as required)

Contract Type: 6-Month Contract

️ Working Style: Hybrid (On-site days as per client needs)

Rate: £450/day (inside IR35)

Travel: Required occasionally based on project demands

About the Role

We’re seeking experienced Migration Project Managers to deliver high-impact migration projects within the Life & Pensions sector . In this client-facing role, you will work closely with the Global Head of Migrations and a distributed team of subject matter experts to execute large-scale, technical migration projects with precision and accountability.

You will be responsible for managing a portfolio of migration initiatives from initiation through implementation, ensuring delivery is on time, within budget, and meets the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

  • Lead end-to-end management of migration projects from initiation to go-live
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive portfolio plan covering scope, timeline, budget, and quality benchmarks
  • Collaborate with migration SMEs to accurately estimate work effort and resource allocation
  • Provide clear, accurate, and timely reporting to the Global Head of Migrations
  • Proactively identify and manage risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies, proposing mitigation strategies
  • Support operational readiness and coordinate cross-functional planning and delivery
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews and ensure lessons learned are shared within the wider PM community

Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead, motivate, and manage virtual teams across multiple locations
  • Maintain strong communication and accountability within the project team
  • Support performance management in collaboration with line managers
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and contribute to internal process enhancement initiatives
  • Actively participate in the broader project management community and share best practices
  • Engage with stakeholders at all levels, including executive leadership, ensuring transparent communication and alignment
  • Stay current with CASS (Client Assets Sourcebook) developments relevant to project impact

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience managing data or asset migration projects (preferably within Life & Pensions)
  • Technically hands-on with solid understanding of data models and migration tooling
  • Exceptional stakeholder and client engagement skills – including C-level communication
  • Track record of leading distributed, cross-functional teams
  • In-depth understanding of business change and end-to-end migration processes
  • Strong project governance and delivery planning background
  • Skilled in Microsoft Project and project reporting tools
  • Degree qualified or equivalent work experience
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or similar project management certification preferred

Preferred Tools & Competencies

  • Microsoft Project, Excel, JIRA, Confluence
  • Data modelling / ETL tools experience
  • Familiarity with CASS-compliant environments
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and strategically
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
