Digital Project Officer
Simple Recruitment are looking for a Digital Project Officer for a temporary opportunity with our client in Bristol.
The Job:
To provide support to review, update and maintain Skills Connect directory content and communications, while assisting with inbox management, administration, and impact data collation.
You will work alongside the Skills Connect team to ensure high standards of accuracy, accessibility, responsiveness and content structure across digital and communication channels.
Key Responsibilities:
Directory Review and Content Management
- Improve access to career and skills support through high-quality directory content.
- Review ~660 listings, ensuring accuracy of contact details, eligibility, delivery model, and geographic coverage.
- Assess and refine content by identifying essential information, simplifying where possible, and improving clarity.
- Rewrite provider descriptions using plain English, consistent tone, inclusive language, and SEO best practice.
- Ensure correct categorisation and alignment with site taxonomy to support user navigation.
- Format and upload content via WordPress CMS.
- Liaise with providers and stakeholders to gather or verify information, handling sensitivities appropriately.
- Identify and flag duplicate, outdated, or inactive listings.
- Proactively highlight gaps in directory content.
Website Content Administration (WordPress)
- Create and edit website content to improve user experience.
- Apply consistent formatting (headings, links, categories, tags).
- Make informed decisions on content placement within site structure.
- Check links and documents for functionality and accessibility.
- Support ad hoc content updates and maintain quality independently.
Email Communications (dotdigital)
- Support weekly network emails by collating, editing, and prioritising content.
- Draft and format emails in line with brand guidelines.
- Proofread and maintain distribution lists.
- Ensure appropriate tone, clarity, and sensitivity in partner communications.
Inbox Management
- Monitor shared inboxes and respond to enquiries professionally and promptly.
- Resolve routine queries independently; escalate complex or sensitive issues.
- Maintain enquiry logs and ensure consistent communication standards.
- Recognise and handle politically or strategically sensitive matters.
Administrative Support
- Provide general admin support, including spreadsheets, scheduling, and record-keeping.
- Assist with meetings (organisation and note-taking).
- Manage workload independently and prioritise effectively.
Data and Impact Reporting Support
- Support data collection and evidence of project activity.
- Track metrics (e.g. updates completed, email engagement, enquiry volumes).
- Maintain reporting tools and templates.
- Contribute to stakeholder reporting with accurate, clearly presented data.
The Salary:
£19.18 to £21.65 per hour
The Hours:
Monday to Friday
9.00am to 5.00pm
Hybrid 2 days in the office
About you:
Essential
- Experience using WordPress to create and edit web content.
- Experience with dotdigital or similar email marketing platforms.
- Excellent written English and advanced editing skills.
- Strong analytical ability to distil complex information into clear key messages.
- Confident working independently with initiative.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience writing in plain English and adapting content for accessibility.
- Ability to translate technical skills and employability information into user-friendly content.
- Strong understanding of content structure (taxonomy) and its impact on user experience.
- Experience managing shared inboxes and responding professionally to enquiries.
- Ability to engage stakeholders and gather information diplomatically.
- Skilled in handling political or partnership sensitivities.
- Strong organisational skills with effective workload management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
Desirable
- Experience in the employment and skills sector.
- Experience in public sector or partnership environments.
- Understanding of digital accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG).
- Experience supporting monitoring and evaluation activities.
- Experience working with a high level of autonomy and judgement.
