We’re partnering with a fast-growing fintech start-up in London that is transforming how financial services are delivered through cutting-edge technology, data, and customer-first design. As they scale, they are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead and grow their engineering organisation.
🌟 The Opportunity
This is a pivotal leadership role where you’ll define and execute the engineering vision, build a high-performing team, and scale a modern, cloud-native platform in a fast-moving, regulated environment.
You’ll work closely with the executive team to shape technical strategy, drive delivery excellence, and ensure the platform is secure, scalable, and resilient as the business grows rapidly.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the engineering strategy aligned with business growth objectives
- Lead, mentor, and scale engineering teams across multiple disciplines (backend, frontend, data, DevOps)
- Drive architecture decisions for a high-availability fintech platform
- Establish strong engineering culture focused on quality, speed, and ownership
- Partner with Product, Design, Compliance, and Security teams
- Ensure robust delivery practices (CI/CD, observability, incident management, etc.)
- Attract, retain, and develop top engineering talent
🧠 What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as VP Engineering / Director of Engineering / Head of Engineering in a scaling tech organisation
- Strong background in fintech, payments, banking, or highly regulated environments (preferred)
- Experience scaling engineering teams from ~20 to 100+ engineers
- Deep technical understanding of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and modern software architecture
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to influence at executive level
- Track record of building high-performance, inclusive engineering cultures
