SmartCo are Hiring: Solutions Architects

SmartCo are currently looking for Solutions Architects, to design and deliver innovative solutions in the Retail/Supply Chain sector, on a large transformational IT project.

These are architecture focused roles, not development, but understanding of SW development processes will be useful to shape creative, and scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality solution designs for complex projects.
• Serve as a communication bridge between the Solution Delivery team, IT partners, and business stakeholders.
• Support the development of technology and business roadmaps.
• Maintain a deep understanding of our IT strategy and Enterprise Architecture roadmap.
• Ensure design governance is maintained at both Enterprise and Solution levels.
• Collaborate with fellow architects and SMEs to inform design decisions.
• Validate project estimates and ensure design efficiency, value, and cost-effectiveness.
• Produce and review Outline, High-Level, and Detailed Solution Architectures.
• Lead the technical delivery of projects, ensuring end-to-end design integrity.
• Support supplier engagement for RFIs/RFPs as the technical SME.

Skills

• Solid experience in solution architecture.
• Strong experience in solution design, preferably using Azure, Java EE, or .NET.
• Familiarity with ArchiMate and TOGAF-aligned frameworks.
• Experience with architecture tools like Alfabet, Aris, or Sparx Enterprise Architect.
• Knowledge of integration patterns and architecture building blocks across technologies.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with Product Owners, BAs, Testers, Security, and Service Introduction teams.
• Hands-on experience with Cloud Hosting (Azure preferred), Web & Microservices, Security (PCI/GDPR), and customer-facing technologies.
• Experience with integration tools like Talend, MuleSoft, Software AG, WMQ, and Azure infrastructure design is a plus.
