Data Scientist - AI Evaluation (Python, Jupyter, SQL, Public Sector)

Day Rate: £550-600/day (Inside IR35)

Contract Length: 6 months

Clearance: SC Cleared or eligible

Location: Hybrid - Occasional travel to London + flexibility to work from Bristol/Manchester sites

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior Data Scientist to lead the technical evaluation of an AI tool within a public sector environment. This role will focus heavily on running and enhancing existing Python data pipelines, analysing performance data, and producing clear technical reports for non technical stakeholders. You'll play a key role in providing data driven assurance, validating findings, and ensuring accuracy, transparency, and robustness in the evaluation process.

Key Responsibilities

Run, maintain, and optimise existing Python/Jupyter data analysis pipelines.

Perform data cleaning, cleansing, validation across large datasets.

Use Python (pandas) and SQL to extract, process, and analyse data.

Produce clear, concise technical and non technical reports summarising findings and recommendations.

Evaluate the performance of an AI system using structured processes and robust statistical analysis.

Provide data assurance and ensure quality of outputs shared with stakeholder groups.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across public sector environments.

Essential Skills Experience

Strong expertise in Python, SQL, Jupyter, and pandas.

Proven experience building or running data pipelines in production or research settings.

Solid background in data cleaning, data quality checks, and data preparation workflows.

Ability to communicate complex technical findings to non technical stakeholders.

Experience producing structured, high quality analytical reports.

SC clearance or eligibility to undergo SC vetting.


Desirable

Prior experience in the public sector or central government.

Previous work evaluating or analysing AI/ML systems.
