Back End Ruby on Rails Developer/Solutions Lead (SC Cleared Preferred)
£650-675 per day (Inside IR35) | 6 Month Contract | Remote with occasional London meetings
Were supporting a major digital programme seeking an experienced Back End Ruby on Rails Developer to play a key role in taking a critical service through to live operation.
This is not a traditional coding-focused developer position. Were looking for a solution-oriented problem solver who can work with stakeholders to shape, design and deliver outcomes. The initial phase is likely to focus on discovery, solution design, wireframing and collaborative problem-solving, with hands-on development increasing as the service progresses towards go-live.
You'll be working within a large, complex organisation, helping drive delivery decisions, improve technical processes and ensure the successful implementation of a scalable, resilient service.
Key Responsibilities
Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to define and shape solutions
Translate business requirements into practical technical approaches and wireframed concepts
Support the design, implementation and successful go-live of a digital service
Contribute to architecture, solution design and continuous improvement initiatives
Develop and maintain Back End services using Ruby on Rails where required
Drive automation, tooling and deployment best practices
Support CI/CD pipelines and modern delivery approaches
Help identify risks, resolve technical challenges and unblock delivery teams
Essential Skills Experience
Strong experience with Ruby on Rails
Proven ability to solve complex business and technical problems
Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and collaboration skills
Experience designing and delivering solutions within large, complex organisations
Strong understanding of AWS cloud environments
Experience with deployment pipelines, automation tooling and DevOps practices
Background delivering services from concept through to implementation and live operation
Ability to work comfortably across discovery, design and delivery phases
Desirable
Active SC Clearance or eligibility to transfer existing SC clearance
Experience within government, regulated or highly secure environments
Knowledge of modern cloud-native architectures and continuous improvement practices
