Systems Engineer LTE
Systems Engineer - LTE - Remote - New Mission Critical Product Development
A System Engineer in this role will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and integration of both LTE (Long-Term Evolution) and TETRA (Terrestrial Trunked Radio) communication systems, ensuring seamless and reliable voice and data services for mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities
System Design Implementation: Design and implement robust and scalable system architectures for integrated LTE and TETRA networks, potentially involving hybrid solutions that combine the strengths of both technologies.
Network Management Optimization: Monitor system performance for both networks, identify bottlenecks, and perform optimization to ensure high availability and performance. This includes managing maintenance and repair programs to prevent system breakdowns.
Configuration Installation: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network infrastructure, including base stations, routers, switches, and software platforms.
Integration Interoperability: Ensure seamless integration between the TETRA (primarily for mission-critical voice) and LTE (for high-bandwidth data/video) elements, which may involve working with gateways or integrated core network solutions.
Collaboration Vendor Management: Work closely with internal cross-functional teams and external vendors to define system requirements, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Documentation Standards: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including system designs, configurations, procedures, and test reports, to ensure accurate records and compliance with regulations.
Security Management: Implement and manage security protocols, including access controls and firewalls, and develop disaster recovery plans to protect the network and data.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Expertise: Strong background in radio and IP-based communication systems, including in-depth knowledge of LTE and TETRA standards and technologies. Problem-Solving Analytical Skills: The ability to diagnose complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and develop effective, innovative solutions.
Communication Collaboration: Excellent communication skills.
Relevant Experience: A bachelors degree in a relevant engineering field (telecommunications, electronics, computer science) and proven experience in a similar role are typically required.
