CBRNE Digital and Integration Product Manager
CBRNE Digital and Integration Product Manager to drive the next generation of integrated sensing and situational awareness solutions. This high-impact role sits at the heart of our Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Narcotics, and Explosives (CBRNE) portfolio, shaping the future of threat detection and digital connectivity.
What you’ll do:
- Develop strategies and plans to allow Smiths Detection to win in the CBRNE Digital & Innovation market.
- Provide CBRNE Digital & Innovation technical advice to colleagues within the Strategy and Marketing team and Digital team.
- Liaison with the wider CBRNE Portfolio, Innovation & Digital teams to form the CBRNE Digital & Innovation product roadmap.
- Contribute Marketing and Technical input to a pipeline of external Research and Development funding and play a key role in bid development.
- Identify strategic partnerships, including technology partners, suppliers, testers, and early adopter customers.
- Form strategies to allow Smiths Detection to win in the market where localization of technology is a key requirement.
- Build relationships with customers and map their CONOPS to understand their needs and current gaps in their capabilities.
- Support the development of the CBRNE business strategic plan.
- Develop relationships with industry stakeholders, government agencies and regulators.
- Continuously monitor the product portfolio, reporting on any business success-critical changes that are required.
- Comply with all applicable export control and security regulations and helps to formulate strategies to make the business and product development more efficient.
- Develop commercial models by identifying target customers, building sales model (i.e. direct, partnership, Software as a Service). Identify Smiths Detection's role in value chain and how to establish a profitable digital CBRNE business.
- For their allocated portfolio own, create and be responsible for the outward-looking Market Requirements Documents (MRD) and the inward-looking Product Requirements Documents (PRD). Design, implement and drive cross functional activity to ensure the PRD meets the market demand and is fit for purpose aligned to the Product roadmap and business strategy.
- Develop a deep understanding of the cyber security requirements and customer expectations for integrated sensors and software solutions supplied to the CBRNE market.
- Conduct Voice of Customer exercises to understand their requirements and pain points.
- Develop messaging and content for marketing initiatives and the product value proposition.
- Align value within the market to product feature value.
- Perform competitor analysis by market space.
- Provide both bottom-up and top-down market size evaluations.
- Ensure that new products, features and services are taken to market effectively and meets the business case.
- Maintain a list of new business opportunities.
- Maintains CRM data (opportunities, contacts, visit details).
- Drive organizational cohesion to a common message.
- Develop the sales channels available for the product and solution portfolio.
- Comply with Company policies and procedures.
- Provide subject matter expertise into the business to all functions of the business
- Travel: 5-25% required when business rules allow, globally.
Qualifications
- A PhD in a Science / Chemistry related field or equivalent experience in a technical role.
- Background in working for an IoT sensor technology company, explosives or chemical detection equipment, or military systems integration.
- Experience in product or business development within defence, aerospace, or CBRNE environments.
- Understanding of networked sensor systems, cyber security in integrated platforms, and situational awareness technologies.
- Excellent stakeholder management, strategy development, and communication skills.
- British Citizen, as they role requires you to be able to obtain SC Level Clearance.
