We are seeking a skilled database developer to join a client of ours who operate within the health tech space. As a database developer you'll provide technical expertise to facilitate the design of databases embedded within products, ensuring optimal functionality in adherence to the stringent quality and security standards. Working in collaboration with developers, project managers, and the operations team, they actively contribute to innovation, influence decisions, and steer the database design process to fulfil customer requirements.

Primary Duties and Tasks

  • Execute data migration initiatives, managing projects involving both third-party and in-house systems.
  • Design and develop components for the product database.
  • Optimise database performance through effective tuning and refinement.
  • Create and maintain Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes.
  • Provide support for operational database systems.
  • Develop and implement stored procedures using procedural languages.
  • Fine-tune SQL queries and proficiently interpret query plans.
  • Address ongoing challenges associated with utilising a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) in an enterprise setting, including performance management and maintenance activities.
  • Offer technical support to internal staff and customers.
  • Ensure timely delivery of technical projects.
  • Generate comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Foster continuous skill development through self-learning initiatives.
  • Engage in problem management and monitoring activities.

Requirements

  • Possess a BSc degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Demonstrate exceptional analytical and organisational skills.
  • Display an aptitude for comprehending front-end user needs and project requirements, coupled with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  • Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Showcase proficiency in utilising modern Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), particularly PostgreSQL.
  • Expertise in crafting complex SQL queries and a proficiency in interpreting query plans.
  • Proficient in recognising well-designed databases, demonstrating an understanding of database normalisation principles and the necessary compromises that may arise.
  • knowledge in data migration, with an ideal background in executing data migration into production systems.
