Assessment Officer
Do you thrive in structured environments, enjoy supporting people to perform at their best, and have a keen eye for accuracy and detail?
We're looking for Assessment Officers to join our growing team, helping to deliver high-quality online assessments for candidates across a variety of public sector recruitment programmes. Due to increased demand and significant growth in assessment activity, we're expanding our team and have multiple opportunities available.
As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you'll play a key role in delivering virtual assessment activities, ensuring candidates receive a professional, fair and engaging experience. You'll be joining a close-knit team that prides itself on providing excellent support through mentoring, training and ongoing collaboration. New starters receive dedicated onboarding, shadowing opportunities and mentoring to help them succeed from day one.
This is a hybrid role based in Newport with attendance in the office approximately once per month. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday with no regular weekend or evening working, although some flexibility may be required to support candidates when technical issues occur during live assessment sessions.
What you need to know:
- Full-time, 24-month fixed-term role.
- Candidates must be based within commuting distance of Newport. This is a hybrid role requiring regular on-site attendance (approximately once per month). Please note this is not a flexible location role, and travel expenses for office attendance are not covered. Working patterns are aligned to assessment schedules.
- This role requires experience in assessment delivery (e.g. recruitment, interviewing, or structured candidate assessment).
- Full training provided on systems including SOVA and MS Teams.
What you will be doing:
- Delivering live online assessment activities, including interviews, role plays and written exercises, ensuring a professional and positive candidate experience.
- Managing multiple digital platforms simultaneously, including assessment systems and Microsoft Teams channels, while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Communicating clear instructions and guidance to candidates, adapting your approach to ensure understanding and engagement.
- Recording, scoring and uploading assessment information accurately in line with established processes and quality standards.
- Resolving issues calmly and effectively during live assessment activities, working with operational support teams to maintain service delivery.
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration and knowledge sharing across the team.
What you'll bring:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain information clearly and adapt your style to different audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high levels of accuracy and quality.
- Confidence using multiple technology platforms and managing digital processes simultaneously.
- The ability to work effectively within structured procedures, balancing accuracy with deadlines and competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with unexpected challenges.
- A collaborative approach, with a focus on supporting colleagues, sharing knowledge and delivering excellent customer service.
It would be great if you had:
- Experience supporting candidates, customers or stakeholders through structured assessment, interview, onboarding or similar processes.
- An understanding of strengths-based or behavioural assessment approaches.
What’s in it for you?
- Full training and ongoing development to support your career growth
- Flexible hybrid working arrangements
- The opportunity to work with high-profile public sector clients
- A supportive, collaborative team environment where you can develop your skills
