Network Engineer
We’re currently recruiting for an experienced Network Engineer to join our high-performing team at Shared Services Connected Ltd (SSCL). In this role, you’ll play a crucial part in the ongoing transformation of Defence Business Services, using pioneering technology and digital solutions to support our Government and Defence clients.

This role is based on site in Glasgow 2 days a week with willingness to travel to other sites when needed. Once fully operational you will be expected to participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota (1 in 5 weeks). Additional on call and call out payments will be applied.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Monitoring and optimising network performance to make sure uptime, reliability, and efficiency.
- Providing real-time updates to customers about incident progress.
- Identifying and calling out recurring or complex network issues.
- Handling incident queues using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
- Supporting and maintaining enterprise-level network infrastructure.
- Administering IT resources including users, site security, telecom infrastructure, QoS, and enterprise applications.
- Working within defined SLAs to deliver consistent, high-quality support.
- Reporting progress and updates to Team Leaders or Managers.
What You’ll Bring
- Solid experience with Fortigate/FortiWeb firewalls.
- Extensive knowledge of routing and switching, covering office and data centre environments.
- Hands-on experience in data centre operations.
- CCNP certification or equivalent knowledge.
- Proficiency with ServiceNow and SolarWinds for incident and performance management.
- Previous participation in on-call support rotations.
It Would Be Great If You Had
- Exposure to cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Familiarity with automation tools like Terraform and Ansible.
