Project Manager

Are you ready to take ownership of complex IT projects and make a real impact in the Defence and Security sector?

We’re looking for Project Managers to join our Aerospace, Defence and Security team at Sopra Steria. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on challenging, multi-partner programmes where priorities shift, budgets are tight, and influencing senior leaders is key. You’ll be part of a collaborative, supportive team that values adaptability and resilience.

Flexibility is key here. You’ll need to be prepared to travel to multiple client sites depending on the project, typically 2–3 days a week on-site. This could mean Hemel Hempstead for one project, then Salisbury, Farnborough, and potentially Gloucester for the next. It’s essential that you are aware of and comfortable with this. You must also be eligible and willing to obtain DV (Developed Vetting) clearance.

We can offer great career progression opportunities, the ability to be based anywhere across the UK, benefits which you can flex to meet your needs, and training and development opportunities.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading end-to-end delivery of IT and technology projects, ensuring robust governance and accurate reporting of progress, risks, and dependencies.
  • Managing project teams and fostering a collaborative culture to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Engaging and influencing senior partners confidently and constructively.
  • Maintaining commercial awareness to ensure projects remain viable and competitive.
  • Driving accountability for delivery and proactively resolving issues.
  • Adapting to varied project types and disciplines in a fast-changing environment.

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in Project Management, including governance and risk management.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and communicate clearly under pressure.
  • Commercial awareness, understanding pricing, value, and financial constraints.
  • Flexibility and adaptability across varied projects.
  • A collaborative mindset and proactive, solution-driven approach.

It would be great if you had:

  • Existing SC or DV clearance.
  • Experience in central government, defence, or security projects.
  • Knowledge of complex, multi-partner programme delivery.
  • Familiarity with budget management and financial reporting.
  • Exposure to shaping proposals and spotting growth opportunities.
  • Ability to simplify complexity and maintain resilience under pressure.

If you’re interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we’re looking for, please do apply, we’d love to hear from you!
