SharePoint Developer SME
Fantastic opportunity for an expert SharePoint Developer to work on a new Project that is groundbreaking!
We’re looking for a SharePoint Engineer with strong on-premises expertise to design, build, and support resilient SharePoint Subscription Edition environments within a secure, air-gapped infrastructure. This role blends deep platform engineering with practical development skills to deliver robust collaboration and document-management solutions for a highly regulated environment.
Office based in Farnborough.
SC Cleared or eligible for SC.
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as the SharePoint SME for designing and implementing resilient, fault-tolerant SharePoint Subscription Edition farms, including multi-datacentre failover and disaster-recovery configurations.
- Building workflows and automation using on-premises technologies such as SharePoint Framework (SPFx), PowerShell, and timer jobs.
- Creating and maintaining lists, libraries, content types, and site structures aligned to business processes and governance requirements.
- Implementing secure access, permissions models in-line with organisational, MOD, and NCSC policies.
- Integrating SharePoint with internal enterprise systems (e.g., ServiceNow, SQL-based systems, reporting platforms, and other on-prem applications).
- Customising the SharePoint user experience through modern UI approaches.
- Patching and upgrading the farms on regular release cadences and optimising performance.
- Supporting patching, upgrades, capacity planning, monitoring, and performance optimisation of SharePoint farms.
What you’ll bring:
- Extensive experience with SharePoint on-premises (2013/2016/2019/Subscription Edition) including farm architecture, configuration, and administration.
- Strong understanding of SharePoint infrastructure components: IIS, SQL Server, service applications, authentication providers, and network dependencies.
- Experience developing SharePoint solutions using SPFx (on-prem supported versions), PowerShell, and traditional SharePoint development models.
- Experience automating SharePoint provisioning, configuration, and deployment using PowerShell, scripts, or infrastructure-as-code approaches suitable for air-gapped environments.
- Solid understanding of information governance, document management, metadata design, and taxonomy.
- Familiarity with secure-environment delivery practices, including change control and release management.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration guides, and release notes.
It would be great if you had:
- Experience working within secure or regulated environments (MOD, Defence, Government).
- Knowledge of security accreditation processes or NCSC guidance.
- Understanding of MOD Secure by Design (SbD) principals and associated JSPs.
- Experience with SharePoint migration tools (e.g., ShareGate) in offline or restricted environments.
If you are interested in this role but not sure if your skills and experience are exactly what we’re looking for, please do apply, we’d love to hear from you!
