About the Role: The Digital Solutions Lead – Reporting & Automation Lead is a hands-on engineering role responsible for designing, building, and optimising solutions across Power Platform, Power BI (our core reporting platform), Microsoft Fabric, and Azure.

This role focuses on delivering high-quality reporting, automation, and business applications, while maintaining and optimising a secure and well-governed Azure environment.

Location: Hybrid - 1-2 days per week in our office in Canary Wharf, London.

What you will be doing

Technical Delivery & Solution Engineering

  • Design and build solutions using Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate) to drive business efficiency and automation.
  • Build analytical and operational reporting solutions using Power BI (core reporting platform), ensuring strong governance, usability, and performance.
  • Act as a Power BI specialist, developing scalable datasets, semantic models, and reusable reporting components.
  • Design and implement data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse and Data Pipelines where required.
  • Build and maintain API integrations with third-party systems.
  • Work with Databricks and Fabric for advanced data processing and analytics workloads where required.
  • Work with Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Function Apps)

Azure Platform

  • We predominantly operate within a Microsoft Azure cloud environment, and the role requires strong working knowledge of its core services and configurations.
  • Maintain and support Azure environments, including subscriptions, resource groups, and access controls.
  • Monitor and respond to platform alerts, ensuring availability, performance, and stability of services.
  • Manage and optimise security posture using Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Secure Score, and Azure policies.
  • Implement and maintain identity and access controls (Entra ID, RBAC, Managed Identities).
  • Support and manage core infrastructure components such as networking, connectivity (e.g. VPNs), and integration points.
  • Apply configuration changes, improvements, and remediation actions based on monitoring insights and security recommendations.

Data & Reporting

  • Ingest, transform, and prepare data for reporting and analytics use.
  • Create and maintain Power BI datasets and semantic models aligned to business needs.
  • Ensure data quality, usability, and performance within reporting solutions.
  • Support business users with insights, reporting enhancements, and self-service enablement.

Security, Architecture & Best Practice

  • Able to identify and assess cyber risks, and guide, build, and validate solutions with a strong security-first and risk-aware mindset.
  • Ensure all solutions follow security-by-design principles, including least privilege and secure integration patterns.
  • Apply governance and best practices across Power Platform, Power BI, and Azure environments.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of cloud security posture and operational standards.
  • Provide technical assurance during solution delivery.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

  • Act as the technical expert for Power Platform, Power BI, and Azure operations.
  • Provide recommendations and input to the Head of IT on platform improvements, automation opportunities, and security posture.
  • Work closely with suppliers and business stakeholders to deliver practical, robust solutions.
  • Mentor team members and champion best practices across reporting, automation, and cloud usage.

What the ideal candidate will bring

You'll have

  • 5 + years’ experience in Power Platform / Power BI / cloud roles
  • Strong Power BI expertise (datasets, semantic models, DAX, performance tuning, governance)
  • Strong Power Platform experience (Power Apps, Power Automate)
  • Working knowledge of Azure environments (IAM, monitoring, subscriptions, networking basics)
  • Experience with Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, Function Apps)
  • Experience integrating with APIs and external systems
  • Experience working in modern, cloud-first environments
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Databricks.

Skills

  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and debug across applications and cloud platforms
  • Good understanding of Azure monitoring, alerts, and operational management
  • Strong awareness of cyber risk and secure design principles
  • Understanding of security best practices (Zero Trust, RBAC, least privilege)
  • Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based workflows
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

Preferred (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with Microsoft Purview (data governance and classification)
  • Exposure to ISO 27001 or similar frameworks
  • Exposure to AI / Copilot / LLM-enabled solutions
  • Experience developing AI agents or automation workflows
  • Exposure to PCPR, OCPI, and EV charging ecosystems
  • Experience working with large-scale data platforms or EV / energy domain data
