Data Centre/Infrastructure Engineer

for our customer, we requrie a DC/Infrastructure Engineer who can travel betweeen Birmingham & London

Key Technologies & Experience

Data Centre & Hardware

• Physical data centre operations (racking, stacking, cabling, commissioning, decommissioning)
• Enterprise server hardware deployment & life cycle management
• Structured cabling and DC infrastructure standards
• Co-location environments (eg Equinix or similar)

• VMware vSphere/VMware ecosystem
• Apache CloudStack (or similar IaaS platforms)
• Public cloud: AWS and/or Microsoft Azure
• Hybrid cloud architecture (on-prem + cloud integration)

• Enterprise compute, storage, and networking architecture
• Storage technologies: SAN, NAS, object storage
• Infrastructure design for scalability, resilience, and high availability

• Managed Switches, routing, and enterprise networking
• Firewall technologies (Fortinet preferred; Cisco experience beneficial)
• Network design and troubleshooting (L2/L3)
• Security hardening and infrastructure compliance best practices

• Linux (Ubuntu preferred)
• Windows Server environments

• Monitoring & observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Checkmk, ELK Stack
• Backup solutions: Veeam, Commvault (or similar)
• Disaster recovery and business continuity planning

• Container platforms (Kubernetes)
• Collaboration with DevOps pipelines and modern infrastructure practices

• Data centre migration and relocation programmes
• Infrastructure upgrades, capacity planning, and transformation projects
• Multi-site delivery across complex environments

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• Microsoft Azure Administrator
• VMware VCP
• Cisco CCNP
