The post holder requires strong analytical skills to investigate complex data queries, resolve anomalies, and provide clear, meaningful information and insights that influence decisionmaking at every level. Our Business Intelligence team sits within the Directorate of Performance and Information Management, which oversees the full data lifecyclefrom collection and governance to analysis and reportingsupporting both internal priorities and national requirements. Main duties of the job

You will support Trust services by developing highquality reporting solutions & promoting effective use of information across departments. You will contribute to ongoing development of the strategic reporting platform, ensuring it is used as the primary, reliable source of management information.

You will design, develop & maintain information systems, reports, dashboards & datasets that meet both internal and external requirements. Handling complex statistical and analytical queries, validating data quality & resolving anomalies with a high level of numerical and analytical proficiency. Using technical skills including SQL, Power BI and spreadsheets, you will manipulate and interpret data to produce clear reports, presentations and visual outputs that support informed decisionmaking across the organisation.

Our team works across a wide range of departments within the Trust, collaborating with staff at all levels from Directors and managers to administrators & clinicians.

Business Intelligence (BI) and big data analytics is pivotal to the delivery of high-quality efficient healthcare provision and organisational performance. The Business Intelligence Team provides information, analysis, applied analytical intelligence and insights to support the Trust including facilitating effective decision making, best use of resources, understanding performance, and providing information required to focus on areas of greatest opportunity for improvement.

The post holder is accountable to one of the Business Intelligence Team Managers and is responsible for providing an efficient, effective and timely reporting, data processing and visualisation service to facilitate organisational decision making and business strategy development.

The post holder is responsible for the provision of information in the form of reports, dashboards and datasets, as appropriate, which meets the requirements of service users both internally and externally.

The Data Analyst is expected to support the development and promotion of the Trusts data warehouse and strategic reporting mechanisms in all areas including operational data flows and dashboard data flows, as required, achieved through effective design, documentation, communication, development, implementation, processing and maintenance of requirements relevant to specific reporting areas.

Physical Skills

Essential
  • Ability to sit at workstation and use PC/laptop and VDU equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Moving and handling best practice in relating to sitting at a workstation.
  • Requirement to concentrate for long periods of time on specific tasks in order to meet deadlines.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential
  • Data analysis skills and knowledge of statistical principles.
  • Understanding of IM&T Security and Data Protection.
  • Understanding of data administration best practice.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex analysis to non-analytical professionals.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships as part of a team.
  • Organised and structured approach, with the ability to maintain documentation to ensure timely delivery of objectives.

Experience

  • Experience of producing reports, graphs and presentation materials for management.
  • Experience of Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
  • Experience of working in an NHS organisation.
