Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Community EPR ICT Team to support the Family Health Division implementing a new EPR across the Community Childrens services in Coventry and Warwickshire. Clinical expertise is required to create service structures, develop the electronic documents, templates, letters etc and support the implementation and on-going development of this EPR.
You will join a team of 3.6wte ICT Clinical Leads responsible for the adult and childrens community EPR and will work closely with the configuration and ICT training teams.
Training on the system will be provided with support & leadership from the Community EPR ICT project team.
Initially the focus will be on the implementation of the community EPR in Community Childrens Services (Health Visiting, Family Nurse Partnership, School Nursing, Be Active Be Healthy, Community Paediatricians, Community Childrens Nurses, Children in Care, Childrens Therapies) but there will be a requirement to be involved in developments and to support business as usual for the adult community teams.
Community clinical experience (adult or children) is essential with an understanding of how electronic systems can be used to support staff care for patients. Experience of managing change is desirable along with a passion for making a difference to the way staff & systems work together.
Flexible and hybrid working is supported and there is an occasional requirement to travel across Coventry and Warwickshire
Main duties of the job
To provide clinical and change leadership needed to implement the new Childrens EMIS EPR system supporting delivery of the Community model within the Family Health Division
To provide clinical and change leadership needed to develop and maintain the childrens and adults EMIS EPR systems.
To ensure operational reporting requirements are met by the EPR system
To re-design business processes in association with System users, EMIS product consultants and the Trusts IT specialist's, taking responsibility for any clinical safety impacts.
To undertake all tasks needed for a successful IT system implementation including configuration, testing, development and delivery of both training and user support.
To ensure that effective communication takes place between ICT and business users within the Trust.

General
Use clinical expertise and work with colleagues to resolve all issues relating to the implementation of the EMIS EPR system
Align protocols, procedures and Family Health and Out of Hospital clinical delivery model care pathways with electronic applications within health care settings
Design input into the configuration of the new childrens EMIS EPR system (and associated processes) balancing the needs of the staff to keep the system simple with the requirement to deliver effective management information.
On-going development and maintenance of the childrens and adults EMIS EPR systems
Communication
Maintain effective communication with all Trust staff.
Plan business change requirements (including training) with clinical and nonclinical areas, co-ordinating to meet the change needs of staff in the area.
After formal system training, provide guidance to other health professionals / clinicians / support staff and other appropriate agencies (internal and external).
Communicate with commercial companies and professional groups as required.
Advise on IT Equipment requirements in clinical and non-clinical areas to encourage effective use of clinical IT systems.
Management and Leadership
Act autonomously as a clinical specialist within the IT department.
Manage a workload on a daily basis, prioritising as required
Use specialist knowledge and experience to encourage the effective use of clinical and on-clinical information in Community areas
Provide liaison and co-ordination between the IT specialists and the users in clinical and non-clinical settings.
Work within a project management framework such as PRINCE2
Line manage other team members/secondees
Development
Take a lead role in making sure that the clinical, Out of Hospital and Family Health Division model business needs are met by the application. Using negotiating skills to balance the requirements in conflicting circumstances
Investigate innovative ways of implementing change, researching users preferences and suggesting changes to where possible to meet this.
Work to ensure expected benefits are realisation both during and after implementation of new IT systems.
Influence and take part in producing procedures around electronic processes within the Trust in clinical and non-clinical settings.
Monitor data quality and report back to users encouraging / influencing change in order to increase data quality. Ensure functionality being delivered will meet the needs of the clinical and non-clinical staff.
Formulate new working procedures in both clinical and non-clinical settings to support IT-enabled business change.
Work towards the ethos of patient centred information whereby clinical staff have access to the relevant information on an individual patient
Support the delivery of the EPR Programme with the Trust.
Training and implementation
Responsible implementation of the IT systems including new versions, testing upgrades, software support and ongoing development, system administration and user set-up.
Undertake IT training needs analysis of end users, where relevant, in order to ensure training needs are met.
Ensure training plans are realistic, achievable and targets are met.
Identify weaknesses or additional / specific needs and provide further support and assistance to those users who require it.
Provide support to users when required out of normal working hours on occasions normally go-lives.
Participate in post implementation reviews of new IT systems and modules as appropriate.

Qualifications
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Evidence of relevant post-graduate clinical/professional qualification
- Project Management Qualification e.g. PRINCE 2
