Senior Power BI EPR Analyst
Job summary
South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) is an integrated acute and community Trust, and is looking for an outstanding individual to coordinate the implementation of Power BI within the department and wider Trust as part of the upcoming EPR project.
The successful post holder will possess excellent technical skills including Data Modelling, Data Transformation and DAX. The post holder will also be expected to train other staff members.
Your strong Power BI skills will mean you will lead the development, maintenance, continual improvement, and access control of automated Power BI dashboards and reports. The post holder will work closely with the Data Migration team to use Power BI and bespoke analysis to help support a successful DM process.
Main duties of the job
To coordinate the implementation of Power BI within the department and wider Trust, delivering business intelligence reports and dashboards that support organisational performance improvement. Use of Power BI as a tool to assist in highlighting and visualising changes in recorded data and trends during and post Oracle Millenium adoption. To provide expert technical leadership in Power BI development, maintenance, and training while ensuring compliance with all contractual and regulatory information sharing requirements.

Job responsibilities
Power BI Leadership & Implementation:
Coordinate the implementation of Power BI within the department and wider Trust
Develop a comprehensive plan for embedding Power BI within the Information Team
Promote the use of Power BI as the default platform of choice for deployment of new reports
Lead the development, maintenance, continual improvement, and access control of automated Power BI dashboards and reports
Business Intelligence Reporting:
Deliver the business intelligence reporting schedule and ad-hoc reports ensuring Trust compliance with all contractual and regulatory information sharing requirements
Produce complex reports for internal Divisions, external commissioners and National Bodies
Undertake follow-up queries to highly complex information requests where solutions are not immediately obvious
Generate statistical analysis and profiles of trends within patient and Trust performance information
Electronic Patient Record Implementation
Take a role to assist in the progression of related EPR BI workstream project tasks. The post holder will lead on the design and delivery of intuitive, effective dashboards that support strategic, operational, and clinical decision-making across the organisation, as well as ensuring that essential organisational and external reporting is properly accounted for as part of the EPR Programme.
Work with the Data Migration team to use Power BI and bespoke analysis to help support a successful DM process.
Technical Excellence & Development:
Maintain expert knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server, SSRS, and SSIS in complex organizational environments
Apply NHS Data Dictionary standards to Trust data and ensure compliance with Data Quality Standards
Proactively explore development of new dashboards and reports using SQL and PowerBI
Further develop Trust reporting tools to accommodate new data flows, enhance current flows, and assist in data migration projects
Training & Knowledge Sharing:
Provide Power BI support and training for members of the Information Team
Enhance skills of internal clients enabling them to extract their own reports
Proactively share knowledge of reporting, database and querying techniques, data standards and changes with team members
Interpret data requirements from non-technical staff into technical specifications
Stakeholder Engagement:
Represent the Information Department at meetings advising Divisions and Corporate functions on technical reporting matters
Provide in-depth expertise, interpretation and advice to support Division performance improvement
Communicate Business Intelligence issues to wide range of internal and external staff, providing expert advice to influence decision making
Systems & Infrastructure:
Be familiar with team's software and hardware requirements and advise Head of Information on deficiencies that impede productivity
Support automation of data submissions through Microsoft Power BI software solution
Work within wider Information Team to effect improvements in data quality where necessary
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience in a numerate discipline
- Additional specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate diploma level or equivalent relevant experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Management/supervisory qualification or equivalent experience
Experience
- Extensive, advanced experience of Microsoft SQL Server in a complex organisation, including SSRS design/implementation and SSIS data conversion/transformation
- Experience generating reports using webbased reporting services (Microsoft SQL Reporting Services and Microsoft PowerBI)
- Experience of leading on design, development and evaluation of new reporting requirements
- Experience of working with clinical information systems
Skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Power BI
- databases, especially MS-SQL Server including database design, maintenance, indexes and stored procedures
- Knowledge of SQL Server DML and DDL
