Information Governance Manager - INTERNAL ONLY
Job summary
Working within the Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) function at South Western Ambulance Foundation Trust this interesting and important role will lead on ensuring the highest levels on information governance compliance across the Trust. Managing a small team of dedicated professionals the Information Governance Manager will lead on the Trusts requirements of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT), now CAF, the Trust's Freedom of Information (FoI), Subject Access Request (SAR) in accordance with statutory guidelines and the retention of data policies in line with ROPA requirements. A great leader and communicator this role will work with internal and external stakeholders ensuring the management and processing of information requests and other responsibilities under the Data Protection Act to ensure mandatory and legal requirements are met.
Main duties of the job
- Management and oversight of DSPT requirements
- Manage the Trusts obligations and compliance in relation to FOI's and SAR's providing specialist as needed.
- Day to day management of the Information Governance team
- Maintain an update knowledge of legislation, guidance and policy in relation to Data Protection, GDPR and Information Governance.
- Reporting (and subsequent investigation input as/if required) of IG incidents meeting the DSP thresholds for reporting.
- Work with the Trust's Cyber Security team to ensure that any new ICT solutions, business changes, or new projects, are introduced and implemented within the Trust in compliance with UK Data Protection and GDPR
- Creation(where needed), review, and maintenance of a suite of modern, fit-for-purpose IG policies which support overall Trust service delivery of the Information Governance agenda.
- Management of Data Destruction and Records Retention policies and processes to ensure only appropriate records are maintained in accordance with GDPR legislative requirements, obsolete records being destroyed to minimise costs and legislative breaches

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
- Educated to Degree level and / or have demonstrable and current experience in their field of expertise, to include detailed, up to date theoretical knowledge of relevant UK Data Protection legislation which underpins their specialist practice
- Data Protection / GDPR qualification / FOI qualification
Previous experience (Paid/ Unpaid relevant to job)
- Significant managerial experience within an IG environment Demonstrable experience of managing a FOI function and subject expertise in this area
- Risk management and compliance experience
- Experience of completing a DSP toolkit return for a large organization
- Experience of managing an Information Governance function in an NHS organization, ideally ambulance sector
- Experience of managing and supporting a team which process a high volume of distressing and/or Contentious material on a daily basis.
