Data Support Engineer - M365

Southern Lights is working exclusively with a specialist organisation operating across complex global environments, delivering critical support to clients in high-risk and technically demanding sectors. This is an opportunity to step into a pivotal in house role where data integrity, technical problem solving, and cloud first strategy meet international operations.

We’re looking for a hands-on M365 Data Support Engineer who thrives on autonomy, precision, and being the goto person across everything from Microsoft Power Platform builds to infrastructure maintenance. Sitting at the heart of IT operations, you’ll partner with business leaders, technical stakeholders, and field teams worldwide, all while contributing to robust systems that underpin real world impact.

Key areas of focus:

  • Ownership of existing and future data pipelines, ensuring security, access, and seamless usability
  • Building out innovative flows and apps using the Microsoft Power Platform
  • Migrating legacy platforms to M365, in line with a cloud-first roadmap
  • First-line IT support across helpdesk, infrastructure, and end-user hardware/software
  • Managing and monitoring servers, networks, and systems to maintain performance and security
  • Supporting compliance through documentation, training, and IT policy development
  • Advising colleagues globally on IT best practice, including remote troubleshooting and systems use
  • Acting as a deputy to the IT Manager when required

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in administering Microsoft 365, Intune, SharePoint, Teams, Defender & Entra
  • Hands-on skills in database management (SQL) and mobile device management tools (Apple BM, Intune)
  • Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Practical exposure to cloud platforms, backup/disaster recovery, and security tooling
  • Familiarity with ITIL principles and current cybersecurity standards

This is a high trust, high responsibility role in a mission led environment. You’ll be joining a close knit internal IT team that punches well above its weight, offering autonomy, progression, and global exposure. The impact is real, the remit is broad, and for the right person, the challenge will be incredibly rewarding.

Here at Southern Lights, we strive to create an inclusive environment where every employee feels valued and empowered to contribute fully. Our recruitment practices are designed to ensure that all candidates have an equal opportunity to succeed, regardless of their race, colour, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, religion, or socioeconomic background.
