Senior AWS Engineer – Fintech / Regtech | AI Platform

📍 UK Remote (with travel to London every few weeks) or Hybrid (1 day per week in London)

The Opportunity: This is a chance to join a stealth-mode fintech/regtech startup as it prepares to go live, backed by a global bank and a leading law firm. With seed funding secured and a strong runway ahead, the business is building a next-generation, AI-powered compliance platform designed specifically for banks and fintechs operating in heavily regulated environments.

The product sits at the intersection of financial services, regulation, and AI. It leverages machine learning and modern microservices architecture to streamline complex compliance workflows, helping organisations meet regulatory requirements faster, more accurately, and with greater transparency. By embedding AI into the core of the platform, the business is rethinking how compliance is managed end-to-end, reducing manual overhead while improving auditability and decision-making.

You’ll be joining at a pivotal stage, shaping the cloud infrastructure that underpins a product built for scale, security, and trust from day one.

Your Mission:

• Lead the evolution to a production-grade, secure, and scalable AWS environment
• Drive the migration from early-stage infrastructure to a fully mature cloud platform
• Champion a zero-trust security model and best-in-class cybersecurity practices
• Build a highly automated, self-service platform that empowers developers
• Establish the foundations required to meet strict compliance standards such as SOC 2

• SOC 2 certification achieved
• Seamless onboarding as a vendor to enterprise clients in regulated industries
• Fully automated infrastructure and deployment pipelines
• On-demand environment provisioning
• Zero-downtime deployments across all services
• High-frequency, developer-led deployments

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Architect, build, and scale AWS infrastructure using modern DevOps principles
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Work closely with engineering teams to enable fast, reliable CI/CD pipelines
• Design and maintain Kubernetes-based environments
• Embed security and compliance into every layer of the platform
• Continuously improve system reliability, scalability, and developer experience

What You Bring:

• 5+ years of hands-on AWS experience
• Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and automation
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, and modern DevOps tooling
• Solid background in cybersecurity and cloud compliance
• Experience working in high-growth or early-stage environments
• Passion for simplifying systems and enabling developer productivity
• A growth mindset with the ability to adapt in a fast-moving environment
• AWS certifications are a plus

• Frontend: React
• Backend: Nest.js, Python (FastAPI), LangChain
• Infrastructure: AWS ECS, PostgreSQL, Kafka (migrating from RabbitMQ)
• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform
• CI/CD: GitHub-based tooling
• Testing: Pact, Jest, Cypress, Pytest, including AI-driven test automation
