AWS Engineer

AWS Engineer - £600 per day via Umbrella - 6-month contract - Remote - SCC Flex Contract

We're looking for a security-minded AWS Engineer to help us build and mature a secure AWS Landing Zone and support the migration of on-premises workloads into a well-governed, cloud-native environment. This is a hands-on role where you'll act as the dedicated Security representative within the SRE team, ensuring that all accounts and workloads are secure-by-design and aligned with best practices and compliance frameworks like ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus.

Your responsibilities as the AWS Engineer:

• Build and enhance a secure AWS Landing Zone to support scalable, compliant cloud operations.
• Remediate vulnerabilities and implement security best practices across AWS environments.
• Action findings from Security Hub, AWS Config, Inspector, IAM Access Analyzer, GuardDuty, penetration tests, and audit reports.
• Support the migration of on-prem workloads into AWS, ensuring security and governance are Embedded from the start.
• Work with CDK/CloudFormation to define infrastructure as code.
• Deploy resources through a Jenkins pipeline as part of a secure CI/CD process.

As a successful AWS Engineer, you will have:

• Proven experience in AWS engineering with a strong focus on security and compliance.
• Deep understanding of AWS security services and how to operationalize them.
• Experience aligning cloud environments with ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus.
• Hands-on experience with CDK or CloudFormation, and CI/CD pipelines (preferably Jenkins).
• Strong collaboration skills - you'll be Embedded in the SRE team but work closely with Security, Compliance, and DevOps.
