Data Centre Migration Specialist - £550 per day via Umbrella 3 month contract Eastleigh (Hybrid) SCC Flex Contract
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Centre Migration Specialist to support a major transformation and migration programme. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise across VMware, Zerto, storage replication, networking, and physical infrastructure, with hands-on experience delivering complex data centre moves. While Disaster Recovery remains a component of the role, the emphasis is firmly on technical execution, migration readiness, and infrastructure transition.
Key Responsibilities as Data Centre Migration Specialist:
- Lead technical planning and delivery of data centre closure, relocation, and consolidation activities.
- Execute migration strategies covering network reconfiguration, IP schema updates, VLAN/routing changes, and dependency coordination.
- Produce detailed migration runbooks and technical playbooks aligned across application, network, and infrastructure teams.
- Assess infrastructure readiness, replication configuration, and failover capability during migration phases.
- Manage technical stakeholders and multi vendor teams to ensure seamless execution with minimal downtime.
- Support the DR readiness activities required during migration, ensuring continuity throughout transitional states.
- Contribute to DR/HA documentation, runbooks, and governance frameworks.
Technical Skills Required as Data Centre Migration Specialist
- Strong experience with VMware vSphere & ESXi.
- Hands-on capability with Zerto for replication, migration workflows, and failover orchestration.
- Solid understanding of SAN/NAS storage replication, storage consumption models, and storage on demand.
- Experience with Rackspace and broader physical infrastructure planning (racking, cabling, hardware configuration).
- Familiarity with cloud based DR technologies including:
- Azure Site Recovery (ASR)
- AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery
within hybrid infrastructure environments. - Proven hands-on experience delivering end to end data centre moves.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain migration impact and technical risks to both technical and business audiences.
