Linux Systems Administrator (Infrastructure & Automation) - £500/day via Umbrella (Inside IR35) - 6 Month Contract - Home-based - SCC Flex Contract

We are seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator (Infrastructure & Automation) to support and enhance a modern microservices-driven environment. This is an exciting opportunity for a Linux Systems Administrator (Infrastructure & Automation) to play a key role in maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performing Linux infrastructure within a fully remote setup.

Your responsibilities as the Linux Systems Administrator (Infrastructure & Automation):

- Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux (Red Hat) environments to ensure high availability and performance.

- Deploy, scale, and manage containerised microservices across multi-node environments using Docker Swarm.

- Visualise and monitor container stacks, deployments, and cluster health using Portainer.

- Own SSL/TLS certificate life cycle management, including provisioning, renewal, validation, and deployment across infrastructure.

- Develop and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Python) for system health checks, configuration updates, and certificate management.

- Manage secure file transfer services (SFTP/FTPS), including user access, SSH key management, and automated file handling processes.

- Support and maintain messaging infrastructure, including Apache Kafka environments.

As a successful Linux Systems Administrator (Infrastructure & Automation), you will have:

- Minimum 5 years' experience in enterprise Linux administration with deep expertise in Red Hat environments.

- Strong knowledge of Kernel configuration, filesystem management, security hardening, and performance tuning.

- Solid experience with Docker and microservices architecture.

- Hands-on experience using Portainer for container and environment management.

- Advanced Scripting skills in Bash and Python for automation and integration tasks.

- Strong understanding of PKI, OpenSSL, and automated certificate life cycle management.

- Experience with secure file transfer technologies (SFTP, OpenSSH) and network security principles.

Desirable experience for the Linux Systems Administrator (Infrastructure & Automation):

- Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka (topic management, access controls, replication, and mirroring).

- Knowledge of event streaming architectures and Kafka ecosystem tools.

- Experience with Azure services, including Key Vault and Enterprise Application secrets.

- Exposure to advanced PKI environments and enterprise-grade encryption practices.
