Contract Senior RPG Engineer

Spectrum IT's are partnered with a national Tech client who are looking to hire a Contract Senior RPG Engineer for an initial 6 month period, the role has been deemed INSIDER IR35 and will be UK based FULLY REMOTE WORKING.

Essential Key Skills:

• Strong RPG development experience, including RPG/400, ILE and free format
• Solid understanding of IBM i platform and application life cycle
• Experience developing and maintaining 5250 based business applications
• Ability to design and build integrations using REST APIs
• Experience working with JSON and XML data formats

Desirable:

• Good SQL knowledge, including embedded SQL within RPG
• Experience with DDL and modern database design approaches
• Exposure to web development concepts, including HTML integration
• Experience of IBM i modernisation approaches or hybrid architectures
• Familiarity with GUI enablement or terminal modernisation tools such as Newlook
• Experience with document or spool file transformation tools such as Interform
• Experience with Freestyle or similar tools for web enablement of RPG
• Use of modern IBM i development tools such as RDi rather than SEU
