45000.00 - 50000.00 per annumSouthampton, Hampshire Permanent Spectrum IT Recruitment is working with an innovative technology business at the forefront of 5G and wireless communications, who are looking for a talented Software Engineer to join their growing software team in Southampton.This is an excellent opportunity for a Software Engineer with strong C/C++ skills who enjoys working close to the hardware and solving challenging performance and optimisation problems.The RoleYou'll be responsible for developing, integrating and optimising the infrastructure software underpinning 5G NR Physical Layer (PHY) systems, with a particular focus on delivering real-time performance across embedded platforms.You'll work closely with software, hardware, architecture and system-test teams, contributing to the development of high-performance 5G technology.Key Responsibilitiesð1 Develop software used to run and test 5G NR PHY algorithms ð1 Develop and optimise platform-specific code for embedded systems ð1 Apply SIMD, multi-threading and hardware acceleration techniques ð1 Integrate PHY algorithms with ARM-based platforms and boards ð1 Improve and maintain CI testing across the platform ð1 Support interoperability testing with customers, vendors and operators ð1 Work closely with hardware, system architecture and system-test teams ð1 Contribute to technical reviews and customer-facing activitiesWhat We're Looking ForEssential:Strong C or C++ development experienceExperience with a scripting language such as Python, Groovy or BashStrong software engineering fundamentals and an interest in performance optimisationDesirable:Experience developing for real-time embedded systems and LinuxKnowledge of SIMD, FPGA or DSP-based hardware accelerationUnderstanding of signal processing and optimisation techniquesExperience with FPGA toolchains, particularly Xilinx VivadoExposure to O-RAN architecture and fronthaul protocols such as eCPRIExperience working with ARM-based platformsWhy This Opportunity This is a chance to work on genuinely cutting-edge 5G technology, tackling interesting engineering challenges around performance, embedded systems and hardware acceleration.If you're a Software Engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of software, hardware and wireless communications, we'd love to hear from you.Spectrum IT Recruitment (South) Limited is acting as an Employment Agency in relation to this vacancy.
