Technical Transformation Director
Technical Transformation Director required by a technology-led organisation undergoing significant digital transformation. As part of this journey, they are seeking a Technical Transformation Director to act as the right hand to the CTO, driving the delivery of large-scale technology change across the business.
Technical nous is key for this role. Specifically -
- Technical expertise across the Microsoft stack (C#, .NET, Azure, SQL Server, etc.)
- Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering quality and system design
- Experience with DevOps, modern delivery practices and cloud-based platforms
This is a high impact leadership role where you'll take ownership of complex transformation programmes, aligning strategy with execution and ensuring delivery at pace across engineering, data, product and operational teams.
The Role
As Transformation Director, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of a broad technology transformation portfolio, bringing structure, governance and momentum to multiple concurrent initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and owning the transformation roadmap in partnership with the CTO
- Leading large-scale initiatives across cloud, application modernisation, data platforms, AI and engineering practices
- Translating strategy into clear programmes, workstreams and measurable outcomes
- Managing dependencies, risks and delivery trade-offs across multiple initiatives
- Providing technical oversight across a modern Microsoft technology stack
- Challenging architecture and engineering decisions to ensure scalability, security and performance
- Driving best practices in DevOps, CI/CD, testing, release management and observability
- Aligning cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams around shared goals
- Communicating progress, risks and value to senior leadership and stakeholders
- Embedding a culture of continuous improvement, accountability and innovation
About You
We're looking for a highly credible technology leader with a strong background in transformation, delivery and engineering within a Microsoft environment.
You will have:
- Significant experience in a senior technology / transformation / engineering leadership role
- A proven track record delivering complex transformation programmes with measurable outcomes
- Experience managing multiple workstreams and large-scale delivery portfolios
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working closely with C-level leadership
- Technical expertise across the Microsoft stack (C#, .NET, Azure, SQL Server, etc.)
- Strong understanding of software architecture, engineering quality and system design
- Experience with DevOps, modern delivery practices and cloud-based platforms
- Exposure to data, analytics, AI or automation initiatives
- Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical change into clear narratives
- A highly organised, analytical mindset with the ability to lead through ambiguity and change
