Digital Scrum Master **

We are seeking a Digital Scrum Master on behalf of a Local Authority Client based in Reading.

Salary: £400 per day (Inside IR35) - may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience.

Contract type: Initial 3-6 month agency contract with a view to be extended.

Hours: Full time role.

Location: Hybrid working - 1 day a week in the office.

About the role:

  • This role is pivotal to the delivery of Agile project delivery capability in Reading Borough Council's digital and ICT service.
  • You will have lots of interactions with both internal and external project managers and will co-ordinate the effective delivery of projects using Agile methodologies.
  • You will be responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams to build new exciting capability for the council.
  • Core to the role is the ability to take the initiative and ensure the smart delivery of the backlog keeping velocity at optimal levels. You will have the ability to report backlog performance at various level of the organisation.
  • Projects will include software as well as hardware projects. Experience of working with business analysts and service designers is important.
  • Ability to work on own initiative celebrate and communicate successes using various communications style and channels in a truly Agile way is also crucial.

About You:

  • Scrum Master that has good experience with removing impediments / obstacles to delivery and someone who can work with tricky stakeholders.
  • The Scrum Master will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to delivery much needed enhancement and new functionality to the councils online applications.
  • The scrum master will ensure that the backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint demos and retrospective meetings are executed accordingly and optimizing the team performance.
  • Ensure that milestones are reached and deadlines are met throughout all projects lifecycle.
  • Remove project obstacles, develop solutions with the team members and stakeholders involved.
  • Develop key relationships with Product owners, providing vital status updates and supporting business communication.
  • Document and communicate progress and external blockers to upper management and multiple stakeholders.
  • Input into planning and estimation in agile framework to fulfil the requirements backlog
  • Act as a Scrum Master for 1-2 Scrum teams, working on multiple concurrent projects
  • Embed an agile way of working for the team and coach them to achieve the team's goals
  • Take ownership for team successful project delivery.

Skills required:

  • Recognised Agile certification.
  • Expertise in a variety of Agile principles and frameworks.
  • Scrum Master Certification.
  • 2 - 3 years of experience of running multiple scrum teams.
  • Ability to run DevOps- preferably using Azure DevOps.
