My client, an innovative technology business that's applying cutting-edge AI to solve real-world engineering challenges at scale. Backed by significant investment and experiencing rapid growth, they're building advanced machine learning solutions that optimise critical infrastructure and deliver measurable sustainability benefits.

This is an opportunity to join a highly collaborative R&D team where you'll work on complex machine learning problems from initial research through to deployment. If you enjoy solving difficult technical challenges, experimenting with new approaches and seeing your work have a genuine real-world impact, this could be an excellent fit.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Applied Scientist, you'll be responsible for researching, developing and refining advanced machine learning models to solve complex operational problems. Working alongside software engineers and fellow researchers, you'll help take innovative ideas from concept through to production-ready solutions.

You'll be involved in:

  • Designing and developing advanced machine learning and deep learning models
  • Applying reinforcement learning and optimisation techniques to real-world engineering challenges
  • Working with large-scale, time-series and sensor datasets to build intelligent predictive models
  • Developing simulation and modelling approaches, including digital twin concepts where appropriate
  • Evaluating model performance and continuously improving accuracy and robustness
  • Collaborating closely with engineering teams to transition research into production environments
  • Contributing to technical innovation and helping shape future research initiatives

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a strong research mindset who enjoys solving challenging machine learning problems. Whether your experience comes from industry or academia, you'll have a passion for applying AI to practical, real-world applications.

You'll ideally have experience with:

  • Strong Python development skills
  • Deep Learning and modern Machine Learning techniques
  • PyTorch, JAX, NumPy or similar ML frameworks
  • Building, training and evaluating machine learning models
  • Time-series analysis, forecasting or sensor data
  • Reinforcement Learning or optimisation techniques
  • Simulation modelling, digital twins or physics-informed machine learning (desirable)
  • A degree, MSc or PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or a related discipline

Apply now and one of our consultants will be in touch to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
