About the Role

We are looking for a talented Data Scientist with strong cyber security expertise to join our growing team. This role sits at the intersection of data science, threat intelligence, and cyber defence, using advanced analytics and machine learning to identify, predict, and mitigate cyber risks.

You will work closely with cyber security, engineering, and risk teams to turn complex data into actionable insights that strengthen our security posture and support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and deploy data science models to detect, analyse, and predict cyber threats.
  • Apply machine learning and statistical techniques to large, complex security datasets (eg logs, alerts, network traffic).
  • Support threat detection, anomaly detection, and incident response through advanced analytics.
  • Work with cyber security specialists to improve monitoring, controls, and threat intelligence capabilities.
  • Communicate technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Continuously evaluate emerging threats, tools, and techniques within cyber security and data science.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar analytical role.
  • Solid knowledge of cyber security concepts, such as:
    • Threat detection and incident response
    • Network and application security
    • Vulnerability management
    • Security logging and monitoring (eg SIEM data)
  • Proficiency in Python (or similar) for data analysis and machine learning.
  • Experience working with large datasets, including unstructured or semi-structured security data.
  • Strong understanding of statistics, machine learning, and model evaluation.
  • Ability to translate complex technical analysis into clear, actionable insights.

Desirable (but Not Essential)

  • Experience with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Familiarity with security tools such as SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, or SOAR platforms.
  • Knowledge of data engineering tools (eg SQL, Spark, data pipelines).
  • Relevant certifications (eg CISSP, CISM, CEH, AWS/Azure security certs).
