£350 per day (inside IR35)

We're supporting a major organisation in the search for a Lead MERN Developer to join a high-performing engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong leader who enjoys balancing hands-on development with team leadership and stakeholder management responsibilities.

You'll play a key role in delivering modern, scalable applications while helping to guide a small team of developers and engaging with a broad range of business and technology stakeholders.

We are pleased to offer this role on a hybrid basis with 2 days required at either their Leeds or Halifax offices. This will be an initial 6-month contract with potential of extension thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a small team of developers, promoting engineering best practices and high-quality delivery.
• Act as a key technical point of contact for stakeholders across the business.
• Remain hands-on, contributing to architecture, design, development and code reviews.
• Build and maintain modern web applications using React, Node.js and TypeScript.
• Work closely with product, delivery and engineering teams to deliver business-critical solutions.
• Drive a quality-first approach through automated testing and continuous improvement.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong commercial experience with TypeScript.
• Proven expertise in React and Node.js development.
• Experience leading development teams whilst remaining technically hands-on.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure or GCP.
• Unit testing experience using Jest and React Testing Library.
• Experience working within agile software development environments.
• Automated testing experience using Playwright.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience designing and delivering scalable cloud-native solutions.
