Product Owner

Product Owner - Analytics & Decisioning Products

London | Up to £100,000 + Benefits

We're partnering with a highly successful and growing speciality insurance organisation looking to hire a Product Owner to take ownership of a business-critical analytical platform that supports complex commercial and operational decision-making.

This is a high-impact role sitting at the intersection of business, analytics and technology. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders and engineering teams to shape product direction, prioritise initiatives and ensure solutions deliver genuine business value.

We're looking for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, understands how analytical products create value, and is comfortable operating in an environment where requirements are often nuanced, evolving and commercially driven.

The successful candidate will work directly with an experienced Product Director and will have significant influence over the future direction of a core platform. The role offers excellent long-term progression opportunities for someone interested in developing towards Product Management and broader product leadership responsibilities.

The Role

You'll act as the link between business stakeholders and engineering teams, helping translate complex requirements into clear product priorities and deliverable outcomes.

Success in this role requires more than backlog management. You'll need to understand the underlying business objectives behind stakeholder requests, challenge assumptions where appropriate and help drive the best possible product decisions.

You'll be working on a highly analytical product, so experience within data-rich, mathematical, algorithmic or decision-support environments will be particularly valuable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritise the product backlog, balancing business value, technical considerations and strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand business challenges, identify opportunities and define product requirements.
  • Translate complex concepts into clear user stories, requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with engineering teams throughout the delivery life cycle, providing clarity and helping remove ambiguity.
  • Facilitate discussions between technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment around priorities and outcomes.
  • Challenge ideas constructively and confidently, helping stakeholders focus on the problems being solved rather than predetermined solutions.
  • Support product discovery activities and contribute to the evolution of product strategy.
  • Coordinate releases and communicate progress, business impact and outcomes to stakeholders.
  • Help establish effective product processes, documentation and knowledge sharing across teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or senior Business Analyst within a technology-led environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build credibility across both technical and business teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence, challenge and facilitate discussions at multiple levels.
  • Experience working on analytical, data-driven, mathematical, algorithmic or decision-support products.
  • Strong commercial awareness and an ability to balance business objectives with technical realities.
  • Experience working closely with software engineering teams in Agile delivery environments.
  • A naturally curious and proactive approach, with the ability to understand both the detail and the wider business context.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within financial services, insurance, risk, pricing, trading, analytics or other highly regulated environments.
  • Understanding of data platforms, modelling systems or complex analytical products.
  • Familiarity with SQL, data structures or data-driven technology platforms.

Why Apply?

  • Significant ownership and influence over a business-critical product.
  • Direct access to senior leadership and product decision-making.
  • Opportunity to work on genuinely complex analytical challenges.
  • Clear progression towards Product Management and broader product leadership responsibilities.
  • Join a collaborative, high-performing team where your contribution will have visible impact.
