Technical Lead - Cloud & Web Platform Modernisation

My client, a leading name in the insurance sector, is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join their Technology and Data team. This role will be central to a major platform modernisation programme, focusing on migrating Legacy systems to Azure and modernising web and cloud platforms.
You will work across a large, bespoke enterprise application estate, contributing to both Angular Front End development and C#/.NET Back End services, supporting existing applications and building new solutions for future growth.
Responsibilities:

Lead the development, design, and delivery of modern web applications and cloud-native services.

Drive the migration of Legacy systems into Azure, ensuring scalable, resilient, and maintainable architecture.

Work within a Scrum/Agile team across the full stack, contributing hands-on while guiding technical direction.

Mentor developers and act as a technical advocate, championing best practices including microservices, event-driven architecture, DevOps pipelines, and test-driven development.

Support and maintain existing applications while designing and delivering new services using modern frameworks and tools.

Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment between business needs and technical solutions.

Explore emerging technologies to continuously improve platform performance, operational efficiency, and user experience.
Requirements:

8+ years' software engineering experience, with 3+ years in a Technical Lead or architecture-facing role.

Strong hands-on experience with Angular and C#/.NET.

Solid experience with Azure cloud services (PaaS/IaaS, DevOps, AKS/Kubernetes, cloud governance/security).

Good understanding of SQL Server and relational database design, with experience in T-SQL and cloud data services.

Familiarity with web development technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript.

Knowledge of software design patterns, SOLID principles, microservices, and event-driven architecture.

Experience working in operational or transactional business environments, ideally in insurance, broking, or financial services.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
