Infrastructure Security Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Security Engineer to play a key role in strengthening and evolving the security capabilities within a well known Financial Services organisation
This position blends hands-on engineering with strategic input, sitting at the intersection of established infrastructure security practices and the growing use of automation and AI. The role is primarily hands-on, with a smaller but important focus on shaping policies, standards, and processes.
As an Infrastructure Security Engineer you will take ownership of security initiatives, proactively identify and address risks, and contribute to the design of resilient, secure systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to embed security into day-to-day operations while supporting the adoption of modern tools and approaches that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
This role offers the opportunity to influence both technical direction and ways of working, making it ideal for someone who is comfortable operating independently while also contributing to broader strategic goals. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation in infrastructure security, a forward-thinking mindset, and a commitment to continuous improvement and professional growth.
Technical Overview:
- Strong practical experience applying modern information security methods, tools, and technologies across both cloud-based and on-premise environments
- In-depth knowledge of established security standards and frameworks, including ISO 27001, NIST, and CIS benchmarks
- Experience securing infrastructure within DevOps environments, with a focus on secure development practices, automation, and enterprise monitoring/reporting—particularly within Microsoft Azure
- Hands-on capability implementing and managing security controls across IP networks, WAN infrastructures, virtualised systems, and multi-platform environments (Windows and Linux)
- Practical experience working with Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) solutions, including tools such as Microsoft Defender
- Experience utilising Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms alongside orchestration and automation tools (SOAR)
- Proven ability to take ownership of security incidents and drive them through to resolution while ensuring alignment with organisational priorities
