Founding Engineer
Founding Engineer — Sphere London (flexible - can be remote), Hybrid
About Sphere Sphere is a B2B networking and relationship intelligence platform for financial services professionals. We have a consumer-facing mobile app and a corporate portal, and we're looking for a Founding Engineer to take full ownership of our tech stack as we scale.
You'll join a small, ambitious team, with a structured handover from our existing engineering setup and a clear mandate to build the team beneath you as we grow.
The Role
- Full-stack development across our mobile app and backend
- New feature development driven by product and commercial priorities
- Data pipelines, analytics, and insight from app-generated data
- AI/ML feature implementation, relationship intelligence, smart recommendations, and our BD copilot roadmap
- Cloud infrastructure and database ownership
- Compliance-aware architecture in a regulated industry environment
About You We care more about how you think and build than the specific languages you know.
- Proven full-stack experience across mobile and backend, production-grade
- Comfortable owning a codebase end-to-end and making architectural decisions
- Data pipeline and analytics experience, you think in signals, not just schemas
- Hands-on AI/ML integration in live products
- Cloud infrastructure experience
- Ownership mentality, a clear communicator with non-technical stakeholders
- Compliance-aware, understands why it matters in regulated industries
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with GoLang, React Native, or Python
- Prior fintech or regulated-industry experience
- Experience hiring or managing engineers
