Rate: £300-£345 per day

We re looking for an experienced Android Engineer to join a high-profile mobile engineering team working on applications used by tens of millions of customers across the world.

You'll be working for a globally recognised financial services organisation, helping to develop and enhance mobile applications used by customers every day. This is an opportunity to work on technology at significant scale, while being part of a smaller, collaborative engineering team.

You'll work closely with designers, product owners, QA and other engineers to develop new features, improve existing functionality and solve challenging technical problems.

We re looking for someone who combines strong technical ability with creativity and a genuine interest in delivering an excellent user experience. You'll be encouraged to share ideas, challenge existing approaches and help shape the way the team develops its products.

The Role

As an Android Engineer, You'll be responsible for developing and improving high-quality mobile applications, working across the full development life cycle.

You'll be involved in:

• Building, developing and improving Android applications
• Designing solutions for open-ended and technically challenging problems
• Writing clean, maintainable and well-tested code
• Finding, diagnosing and fixing bugs
• Performance analysis and optimisation
• Working with modern Android development methodologies
• Working with existing and Legacy code
• Developing unit and integration tests
• Working with Continuous Integration and modern development practices
• Collaborating closely with designers, product owners, QA and other engineers
• Integrating applications with Back End services and REST APIs
• Working within a globally distributed engineering environment
• Contributing ideas and helping the team continuously improve its development practices

Technical Skills & Experience

We ' re looking for strong commercial experience in Android development, with knowledge of:

• Kotlin

• Jetpack Compose
• MVI architecture
• REST APIs
• Coroutines
• Flow
• RxJava
• OkHttp
• Dagger
• JUnit/Espresso
• GitHub Actions
• CircleCI
• Continuous Integration patterns
• Asynchronous coding patterns
• Performance analysis and optimisation
• Unit and integration testing

You may also encounter or have experience with:

• RAML API documentation
• Test Fakes
• WireMock
• Open-source technologies and contributions
• Bespoke Back End services

About You

You'll be someone who:

• Has strong commercial experience building Android applications
• Is confident working with modern Android technologies and development practices
• Takes pride in writing clean, high-quality code
• Cares about user experience and building intuitive applications
• Enjoys solving complex problems and working through ambiguity
• Is comfortable diving into technical challenges and rapidly iterating on ideas
• Can work independently and manage your own workload effectively
• Is confident sharing ideas and contributing to technical discussions
• Works well within a collaborative, globally distributed team
• Can balance modern development approaches with working within established or Legacy environments

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related subject, or equivalent commercial experience, would be beneficial.
