Location: Manchester Area - 3 days per week on-site
Rate: Up to £340 per day (Inside IR35)

An exciting opportunity has become available with a leading financial services organisation. They are currently seeking a motivated Junior Cybersecurity Engineer - Logging Specialist to join their growing security team. This role is ideal for someone with who is eager to build on their skills within a high-paced, regulated environment.

• Assist in configuring and managing security logging and monitoring tools.
• Work with senior engineers to analyse log data and investigate potential threats or unusual activity.
• Support incident response activities by gathering and reviewing relevant log information.
• Help maintain and improve SIEM use cases, alerts, and dashboards.
• Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure logging standards are followed.
• Document findings and contribute to reporting for audits and compliance reviews.

• A degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Proven experience working in a cybersecurity or IT security operations environment.
• Familiarity with SIEM platforms such as Splunk, ArcSight, or QRadar.
• Basic knowledge of networking, security logging, and incident response procedures.
• Some experience with Scripting (eg Python, Bash, or PowerShell) is beneficial.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn from senior team members.
