Contract Opportunity: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Administration

Location: Birmingham, UK (Hybrid – 2x3 days a week)

Engagement: Contract – Inside IR35

Start Date: ASAP

Initial Duration: Until May/June

We are undertaking a project to migrate part of an existing service from an offshore Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environment into a UK-based GCP account. An experienced GCP Administrator is required to take ownership of this migration and the associated GCP environment in the short to medium term.

Due to current capacity and skills constraints, this role will be responsible for end-to-end GCP administration throughout the project lifecycle, followed by structured handover and training to internal teams ahead of go-live.

The engagement will cover setup, migration support, go-live assistance, and knowledge transfer .

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage a UK-based GCP environment
  • Support migration of services from an offshore GCP account to a UK GCP account
  • Set up, configure, and maintain GCP infrastructure to support applications
  • Implement and manage GCP security, IAM, networking, and governance
  • Support application updates deployed via GitHub into the UK GCP environment
  • Ensure platform stability, performance, and compliance during migration
  • Produce documentation and provide structured knowledge transfer
  • Assist with upskilling internal teams ahead of go-live

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience as a Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Administrator
  • Proven experience delivering GCP migrations , ideally across regions or accounts
  • Solid understanding of:
  • GCP IAM and security best practices
  • Networking, compute, storage, and monitoring
  • CI/CD workflows (GitHub-based deployments)
  • Experience working in regulated or security-conscious environments
  • Ability to work independently and take full ownership of infrastructure delivery
  • Strong documentation and knowledge transfer skills

Desirable

  • GCP certifications (Associate or Professional level)
