Job Title: Senior Site Reliability Engineer - 1 Year Contract

Location: Nottingham - once a week in the office

Salary/Rate: £560 per day inside IR35

Company Introduction

Our client, a leader within the data analytics space, is looking to recruit a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to work on Cloud-based, high volume, high-speed systems, which supply data to the Insurance Industry.

Previous AWS/Cloud experience is essential along with scripting experience such as Python or automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).

This is a varied role with strong focus on cloud automation (IaC), security, responding to incidents and general system improvements and maintenance.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

  • Apply basic problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues for ongoing projects.
  • Designing and implementing new technologies and solutions.
  • Ownership and delivery of regular maintenance tasks such as system patching.
  • Diagnose system performance problems.
  • Ownership of agile user stories with the dedication and determination to see them through to completion.

Required Skills/Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Knowledge of Linux systems including RHEL or CENTOS and general deploying, maintaining, and upgrading Linux based systems.
  • Scripting/development knowledge such as Python or automation technologies (Ansible/Terraform).
  • CICD/Pipeline exposure using Gitlab-CI or Github-CI
  • Experience with Docker is essential
  • Familiar with agile working methodologies
  • Previous SRE experience is an advantage
  • Previous industry experience working in a team supporting, building, and testing infrastructure
  • Developer background looking to transition into a SRE based role with 4 years+ experience would be considered
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS/AZURE)

Candidates must have strong AWS experience, as the platform is entirely AWS-based, and must be familiar with Linux systems, scripting (such as Python), and automation tools like Ansible or Terraform.

Candidates with only Windows experience would not be considered, as the role requires familiarity with Linux environments and terminal-based operations.
