Job Title: Teradata Engineer (FS Industry)

Location: UK based (mainly remote with potential occasional travel to London or Edinburgh offices - expenses will be covered)

Salary/Rate: £470-490 per day inside IR35

Start Date: Immediate

Job Type: Initial contract until 31/12/2026

We have an exciting opportunity now available with one of our sector-leading consultancy clients! They are currently looking for a skilled Teradata Engineer to join one of their banking end clients on a remote basis.

Job Responsibilities/Objectives

You will be hands-on in migrating a highly complex, heavily regulated data ecosystem from an on-premise Teradata environment.

In this role, you will focus on building robust data pipelines, modernizing legacy code, and ensuring flawless data delivery. You will work closely with Data Architects, System Analysts, and QA Automation Engineers to convert legacy scripts into modern frameworks.

• Cloud Data Migration: Build and maintain scalable data pipelines to migrate from Teradata to Amazon S3

• Legacy Code Modernization: Analyze and convert legacy Teradata BTEQ scripts into modular, version-controlled, and highly performant dbt (data build tool) models for data transformation.

• Automated Reconciliation: Work alongside the QA team to configure and execute selected automated reconciliation framework. You will help debug and resolve data discrepancies to ensure strict attribute-level parity and timing equivalence during governed parallel runs.

Required Skills/Experience

The ideal candidate will have the following:

Required Skills & Technologies

• Cloud Platforms: Hands-on engineering experience within the AWS ecosystem (specifically S3)

• Languages: Expert-level Teradata coding and engineering. Familiarity with Teradata architecture and utilities is required to effectively understand the source systems being decommissioned.

Experience & Qualifications

• Experience: 3–5+ years of dedicated data engineering experience, with a proven track record in complex, large-scale data migration projects (On-Premise to Cloud).

• Financial Services Background: Experience working in a highly regulated banking or financial services environment is an advantage

• Engineering Best Practices: Strong grasp of CI/CD for data pipelines, Git version control, data modeling concepts, and producing audit-ready documentation.

Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional agile team, effectively communicating technical blockers and solutions to technical leads and business stakeholders.
