Salary: £27,274 to £29,070 per annum, dependent on relevant experience

Are you a practical and customer-focused IT Technician who enjoys solving technical problems and supporting users with different levels of IT confidence?
St Bede’s and St Joseph’s Catholic College is looking for an IT Technician to provide responsive day-to-day IT and audio-visual support across its two College sites and the feeder primary schools it supports.
This is a varied role covering service desk support, desktops and laptops, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra, networks, wireless systems, AV equipment, livestreaming, CCTV, telephony and access control.
The role
Reporting to the IT Services Delivery Manager, you will provide approachable and effective technical support to staff and students.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and updating support tickets through the Halo ITSM service desk.
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, account and connectivity issues.
- Escalating unresolved or more complex problems to the IT Services Delivery Manager.
- Producing clear technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
- Installing, configuring, maintaining and repairing desktops, laptops,tablets,printers and peripherals.
- Deploying applications and device policies through Microsoft Intune and other device-management systems.
- Administering Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra accounts, groups and licences.
- Supporting network equipment, switches, cabling and wireless access points.
- Maintaining an accurate asset register and completing annual stock checks.
- Securely wiping, disposing of and recording equipment at the end of its working life.
- Preparing rooms, devices and systems for examinations, assessments and scheduled events.
- Applying security updates and reporting suspected security incidents promptly.
AV, events and site systems
You will also help maintain the College’s wider technology and communication systems by:
- Installing and troubleshooting AV equipment in classrooms, halls and public areas.
- Managing the IT and AV equipment booking system.
- Setting up and operating sound, projection and livestreaming for events such as Mass, open evenings, prize giving and performances.
- Supporting the College’s CCTV, telephone and door-access systems.
- Programming and cancelling access cards and fobs while maintaining accurate records.
- Retrieving CCTV footage only through the approved process and in accordance with data-protection requirements.
About you
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:
- Practical experience of diagnosing and resolving IT hardware, software and connectivity problems.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra and device-management systems such as Intune.
- Experience supporting desktops, laptops, printers, networks and wireless equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and organisational skills.
- A helpful and patient approach when supporting users with different levels of technical knowledge.
- The ability to maintain accurate records and follow service-desk procedures.
- An understanding of information security, confidentiality and data protection.
- The flexibility to work across different College and primary-school sites.
- A willingness to support occasional events outside normal College hours.
Experience supporting AV, livestreaming, CCTV, telephony or access-control systems would be advantageous.
