Higher Information Analyst Band 6 - St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust If you have a flair for numbers, a love of problems and a knack for explaining the complex, then we'd love to hear from you. To be considered for this post, you must have experience of using data and applying analysis. You need to demonstrate a track-record of success in supplying information tailored to requirements, and of working adaptably to ensure your output reflects on-going business needs. You will be a confident clear communicator, with a skill for conveying analytical insights and subject matter, and for tailoring your message to the particular audience and setting.

Essential Experience and skills include:

o Degree level education or equivalent experience

o At least one year of experience in a similar role in an acute NHS trust

o Good analytical and problem-solving skills

o Strong MS Excel and MS Office skills

o Good understanding of database structure

o Good coding skills in SQL to manipulate data

o Good interpersonal and communication skills

o Quick to learn

o Able to work both on own initiative and as part of a team

o Able to manage own work and to deliver work to deadlines

Main duties of the job

You will work closely with your division function to support their reporting requirements with the following scope:

o Support to Senior Information Analyst in providing hospital managers and commissioners with evidence and advice required for service monitoring and planning decisions.

o Responsibility for the provision of regular reports, performance scorecards and ad hoc analyses, both internally and to commissioners.

o Encouraging and facilitating the development of a basic analytical capability in hospital operational managers and clinicians.

o Contributing to the development and use of Service Line Reporting.

o Working with the department's Information Systems Team to ensure information needs are met in a timely and accurate manner.

o Working with the Data Quality Team to identify, understand and deal with data quality issues.

Qualifications and Training

Essential
  • Degree level education in a numerate subject or relevant experience to an equivalent level
Desirable
  • A qualification in Statistics or Healthcare Informatics

Skills

Essential
  • Strong EXCEL and SQL capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good basis of skills and knowledge in areas such as database structure, data interrogation, visualisation and presentation
  • Extremely numerate and able to analyse and interpret data and information accurately and effectively
Desirable
  • Knowledge of reporting and data visualisation tools such as Tableau (or similar)
  • Experience of service improvement initiatives and performance reporting regimes.
  • Experience in the analysis of complex user and systems requirements and the translation of these requirements into the successful design, build and implementation of information systems

Experience

Essential
  • Communicating complex issues to a wide audience
  • At least one year experience in a similar role in an acute NHS trust
  • Building and maintaining relationships with service managers
  • Analysing and reporting from large datasets
Desirable
  • Experience of NHS information systems, including patient record systems such as Cerner, Rio, SystmOne
