Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a job share role within a not for profit, people focused organisation based in St Helens.

St Helens Rota are looking for a practice manager to share roles and responsibilities with another part time manager in a small practice of less than 4000 patients.

Main duties of the job

Motivating and managing staff within the practice on a day to day basis.

Helping the practice achieve its long term objectives.

Ensuring all aspects of CQC criteria is maintained to the highest standards at all times, inclusive of completing and updating of policies and procedures for the practice at all appropriate intervals.

Job responsibilities

As the practice manager, the key role and responsibilities are:

Motivating and managing staff within the practice on a day to day basis.

Helping the practice achieve its long term objectives.

Ensuring all aspects of CQC criteria is maintained to the highest standards at all times, inclusive of completing and updating of policies and procedures for the practice at all appropriate intervals.

Maintain the practice in line with all contractual requirements and obligations.

Organising practice timetables, clinical and non-clinical staffing cover, inclusive of administering rotas and EMIS templates.

Work in collaboration with job sharing practice manager to maximise practice income.

Ensure all insurances, appliance checks and inspections are in place for practice equipment and premises.

Oversee supply of practice sundries and equipment , liaising with Operations Manager to secure new supplies.

Update and maintain the practice website.

Conduct staff appraisals on an annual basis.

Ensure all onsite staff complete mandatory training and maintain up to date training records onsite.

Provide monthly timesheet report to Director of Operations for all salaried staff.

Liaison with local ICB regarding any practice matters.

The successful candidate will benefit from the ability to dedicate all of their working time to service delivery and patient focused activities due to HR, wages and finance functions being retained centrally by the organisation.

The practice manager will report into the Operations Manager.

The successful candidate will work in collaboration with their job-sharing practice manager and also the operational leads from the parent organisation.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential
  • The successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years experience managing a GP practice.

Qualifications

Essential
  • Strong IT skills are essential, with knowledge of EMIS Web an advantage.
Desirable
  • GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent) is desirable.
