Senior Network Security Engineer - Systematic Hedge Fund

A high‐growth systematic trading firm is looking for an experienced Network Security Engineer to lead network security design and architecture across a fast‐scaling global environment. This role focuses on defining future‐state architecture, security standards, and design decisions rather than hands‐on delivery.

You’ll shape secure network designs to meet evolving business needs and work closely with a dedicated Reliability team who handle implementation and operations.

Role Overview

From a network security architecture standpoint, you’ll own end‐to‐end design decisions across the global estate: shaping network topology, defining architectural standards, and selecting core technologies before handing off well‐engineered solutions to the Reliability team for implementation and run.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and standardise a modern data centre network fabric using EVPN / BGP with VXLAN on a Spine–Leaf architecture
• Support global growth through new data centre builds and expansions across APAC and the Americas
• Drive network and security automation, focusing on improvements that increase consistency, resilience, and operational efficiency
• Architect and maintain a secure, resilient DMZ spanning intranet and extranet environments
• Define the firm’s long‐term network segmentation and security posture across on‐prem data centres, colocation sites, and cloud platforms

Technology Environment

Palo Alto & Fortinet firewalls | Arista & Cisco routing and switching

Requirements

• Strong firewall design and architecture experience (Palo Alto and/or Fortinet)
• Proven experience designing and implementing DMZs (intranet & extranet)
• Deep experience with network segregation and secure multi-zone architectures
• Strong automation capability, particularly around firewall policy automation: Ansible or Python preferred.
• Solid routing & switching background: Arista preferred, Cisco also acceptable
• Excellent CLI skills and comfort operating in complex, high-performance environments
• Experience within a fast-paced industry; financial services beneficial but not essential
