Senior Java Engineer, FinTech

Senior Java Engineer, FinTech, London

We are looking for strong Java-focused Senior Engineers to join one of the most innovative financial technology firms in London. You’ll be working on some of the fastest and most reliable trading systems in the world, in an environment that genuinely values engineering excellence and technical curiosity.

This team is constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in low-latency and high-performance systems. There are a number of greenfield projects underway, from building next-generation exchange platforms to integrating new cloud-native technologies. Joining at this stage means you’ll have real ownership, technical freedom, and the chance to directly influence key architectural decisions.

Role:

    • Take responsibility for full lifecycle delivery — from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
    • Build scalable, distributed systems in core Java, optimised for speed, reliability, and throughput.
    • Collaborate closely with other engineers through pair programming and shared ownership of the codebase.
    • Drive and contribute to greenfield initiatives such as cloud migration, blockchain integrations, and advanced monitoring tools.
    • Work directly with the business and technology teams to identify opportunities for performance and architectural improvements.

Requirements:

    • Strong programming experience in Java, ideally with exposure to multithreading, concurrency, or distributed systems.
    • A solid technical foundation and appreciation for clean, well-tested code.
    • Experience working in collaborative environments using agile practices or pair programming.
    • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
    • A STEM degree or equivalent technical background.
    • Previous experience within low-latency, exchange, or trading environments is a plus but not required.

Benefits:

    • Highly competitive compensation — base salary above market with strong performance-based bonus.
    • A collaborative, engineering-led culture where quality and testing come first.
    • Dedicated personal development time each week to explore new technologies or improve internal tools.
    • Flexible working arrangements with a hybrid office model.
    • Private medical, dental, and vision coverage.
    • Pension contribution, life assurance, and critical illness cover.
    • Wellness initiatives including gym benefits and wellbeing platforms.
    • Generous annual leave and volunteering days.
    • Ongoing learning and development support, including conference attendance.
