Project Overview

A large, highly regulated organisation is partnering with a major global consultancy to stabilise and modernise its digital project controls and reporting landscape.

The current environment is characterised by fragmented data flows, Excel-heavy reporting, siloed systems, and multiple unmanaged baselines. While elements of digital reporting are already in place, reliability, automation, and standardisation remain key challenges.

The immediate objective is to design and deliver practical improvements over the next 3–6 months, focusing on stabilising the existing solution and establishing a more automated, governed, and scalable project controls setup.

Role Summary

The Digital Project Controls & Reporting Transformation Lead will work closely with client stakeholders and the consultancy team to evaluate the current-state solution, identify improvement opportunities, and support implementation planning.

This is a hands-on role requiring deep technical expertise in Excel, Power BI, data modelling, and reporting governance, combined with strong stakeholder engagement skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse end-to-end data processes and flows across Excel, Power BI, SharePoint, and related platforms
  • Identify and prioritise opportunities for automation, optimisation, and standardisation
  • Lead Power BI enhancements, including data processing, modelling, visualisation, and UI/UX improvements
  • Review existing data models and provide clear recommendations for improvement
  • Assess current data governance practices and recommend fit-for-purpose enhancements
  • Support development of a pragmatic roadmap and implementation plan
  • Share industry best practices for portfolio-level capital investment dashboards
  • Align reporting standards, governance, and data flows across a portfolio of parallel projects
  • Support discussions around baseline management and performance tracking

Candidate Profile:

Essential Experience

  • 7–10 years of relevant experience
  • Deep, hands-on experience optimising manual and semi-automated reporting environments
  • Advanced Excel expertise (data structuring, modelling, reconciliation, automation)
  • Strong Power BI capability:
  • Data modelling and transformation
  • DAX and performance optimisation
  • Executive-level dashboard UI/UX design
  • Experience managing and reconciling data across multiple systems and functions
  • Proven experience defining and implementing data governance frameworks
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Fluent English

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working across large portfolios of parallel projects
  • Background in capital investment or asset-intensive environments
  • Experience integrating scheduling, financial, and planning systems (e.g. P6, ERP, financial planning tools)
